Available Culvert Options and Recommendations
Both HDPE (Plastic) culvert and CSP (Steel) culvert can be used for vertical installation while setting and securing telephone poles.
- Size:
- The typical diameter used for telephone pole culvert is 36”. It can range from 30” and upwards, depending on the project specifications.
- Material Options:
- HDPE is the most common choice for this job. They’re lightweight and easy to cut on site, saving labour costs. HDPE is available in both 320 kPa and 210 kPa stiffness. 210 kPa is an economical option for culvert that doesn’t need to withstand vehicle traffic. You can learn more about HDPE culvert here.
- CSP is also a good choice for the job, especially in heavy-duty applications. Known for its exceptional strength, this is chosen when HDPE culvert may not be up for the task. You can learn more about CSP culvert here.
