Prevent Your Jet Pump From Freezing During the Winter
Monitor the Weather: Pay close attention to weather forecasts and take extra precautions during periods of extreme cold.
Consult a Professional: If you are unsure about how to protect your pump, consult a qualified plumber or well service professional.
Drain the Pump: If the pump is not going to be used during the winter, drain all water from the pump and pipes. This is the most reliable way to prevent freezing damage.

Pipe Insulation: Wrap all exposed pipes with insulation sleeves or heat tape. Pay close attention to areas where pipes exit the ground or the building.
Pump Insulation: Wrap the pump housing itself with insulation, being careful not to block any vents or airflow to the motor.
Light Bulb: In a small pump house, a 100-watt incandescent light bulb can provide enough heat to prevent freezing.
Space Heater: For larger pump houses, a small space heater can be used, but ensure it’s rated for safe use in damp environments.
By taking these precautions, you can help ensure that your jet pump survives the winter without freezing.
