You can find ready-mix bagged concrete products in stock at Ontario Agra. We’re excited to have a new partnership with Stubbe’s, allowing us to stock core Pivit™ concrete mix bags, and access their full line of engineered products, manufactured in Canada. Pivit is the packaged products line of Stubbe’s – a Canadian concrete manufacturer with decades of experience in cement production, ready-mix, and precast operations. All bagged Pivit products are tested under the same CSA standards that their plant operations follow.
Below you’ll find an in depth review of the two core products we stock at Ontario Agra. Strongset™ is a general-purpose concrete mix used for slabs, steps, patios, and repairs. Fenceset™ is a fast-setting post mix designed for in-ground installation of posts. STRONGSET™ – One Concrete Mix for Countless Jobs Around the Property
Common Uses:
- New concrete construction including footings, sidewalks, slabs, steps and patios
- Setting deck posts, fence posts, sign bases and poles
- Concrete repairs or overlays above 50 mm (2 in)
Features:
- Ready to mix and place – just add water; ideal for DIY and contractor use
- Open to foot traffic in approximately 24 hours (job conditions vary)
- Versatile, general-purpose performance – great for slabs, steps, patios, walkways, and more
- Designed for placements 50 mm (2 in) and thicker
- Meets strength requirements of ASTM C387 – 27.5 MPa (4000 psi) at 28 days
Preparation, Mixing & Application:
- Prepare your site with properly braced formwork and a well-compacted, dampened sub-grade — no standing water.
- For post setting, excavate the hole below the frost depth with a diameter 100 mm (4 in) wider than the post.
- Mix each 30 kg bag with 2.7 L (2.85 qt) of potable water manually in a wheelbarrow or mortar box, or mechanically in a drum mixer, until uniform with no dry pockets.
- Place and consolidate the concrete to full depth, screed level, and finish only after bleed water has evaporated.
- Maintain ambient and material temperatures between +5 °C and +30 °C (40 °F and 86 °F) for at least 24 hours before and 48 hours after application. For temperatures below +5 °C, use PIVIT FAST STRONGSET™.
FENCESET™ – Fast, Simple Post Setting – Built for Installation Day
Common Uses:
- Fence posts
- Lamp posts
- Playset posts
- Sports equipment posts
- Mailbox poles
- NOTE: DO NOT use for structural applications such as deck posts, floors, slabs, sidewalks or footings.
Features:
- Mix and place in the hole without mixing equipment – no wheelbarrow needed
- Posts ready for use in approximately 3 hours
- Sets in 5-8 minutes – reduces bracing time and keeps installation moving
- Once the post is positioned, you can place the dry material, add water, and agitate to blend — then level and align right away. FENCESET™ is ideal for property projects and light-duty post installations where you want a clean, efficient workflow and reliable results.
Preparation, Mixing & Application:
- Excavate the post hole below the frost depth with a diameter 100 mm (4 in) wider than the post.
- Saturate the soil in the hole with water – damp but no standing water.
- Position the post in the centre of the hole. Add FENCESET™ and 2.8 L (3.0 qt) of potable water per bag around the post at the same time, then blend using a rod or hand tool.
- Ensure the post is level – bracing is not typically required as FENCESET™ sets in minutes.
- Do not rework concrete or move posts after the material has begun to set. Maintain temperatures between +5 °C and +30 °C (40 °F and 86 °F). For temperatures below +5 °C, use PIVIT FAST STRONGSET™.
